After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe new frontiers in immunogenetics in GI cancers 
  • Describe advances in minimally invasive surgery for upper GI cancers, and applications of liquid biopsies in GI malignancies 
  • Define new surgery options for hepatobiliary cancers
  • Define the role of vaccine therapy in GI cancers
  • Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to translational medicine for GI cancers 
  • Discuss the opportunities and challenges with pathologic reporting in GI cancers and describe strategies to overcome obstacles faced when implementing precision medicine trials 
  • Identify emerging treatment strategies for colorectal cancer 
  • Identify treatment options for challenging clinical cases in GI cancers
